Today's special!
Free do it yourself tune-ups.

You may have read speed tips in books or seen some posted in newsgroups.  People are always asking why is my render so slow?  Here at the garage I will show you some things that will speed up your render times.  What makes my tips different?  If I give you a tip I will prove to you that it makes your renders faster.  The others don't.

I am working on adding more speed tips.  If you would like to be notified when I update this page sign up for my news list on the main page.

Steps to Speedy Bryce

Make sure you computer is in top form.  Download B-Mark from the B-Mark page and run the benchmark.  Compare your results with other similar machines on the results page.  If your results are much slower than comparable machines then something is wrong with your computer.  Here is what one tester had to say.

As you go down the materials editor your render times will increase.  What this means is in terms of rendering speed.  The reflection portion of a material's texture is more expensive to render than the diffusion portion.  Show me the data!

Using more than one of the bump, transparency, or reflective properties at the same time dramatically increases render time.  Show me the data!

Use 2D picture objects instead of hi-res 3D models when appropriate.  This will reduce file size as well as render times. Show me the data!

Render time can be reduced by replacing Boolean mapped objects with bump mapped objects. Show me the data!
