Summary: A real time modeling program. It's strengths are in modeling organic
type shapes not in rendering. Most users will create models and import them into
other rendering programs. It has meatball functions as well as the ability to sculpt
models. A good tool for altering already created models also. For example, creating
morph targets for Poser figures. The animation functions are very limited. It
does lack some features listed below. The program is good but feels incomplete which
prevents it from scoring higher.
Who should buy?:
If you are looking to build detailed models then pass on this one.
If you have a meatball modeler that you are happy with then you
might want to pass on this one.
If you are looking for a program to make organic objects from
metaballs and be able to alter them then you will enjoy this program.
Highpoints:
- Good interface, (tools are easily accessible)
- Real time modeling update is excellent.
- Tools take some learning but are powerful.
- The modeling interface is easy to use.
- Comes with a number of primitives.
- Create for modeling organic type objects.
- Seems very stable with no major bugs.
Lowpoints:
- Cannot export a texture map in OBJ or 3DS format.
- Does not support UV texture mapping.
- No multiple undo.
- Cylindrical brush mode would be nice.
- No bumping texture mode.
- No user customizable brushes.
Planet 3D Rating: 2 moons out of four.
