Figure 1

Poser magnets are not difficult.  You just have to play with them for a while to get a good feel for how they how they interact with the figure.  This series of tutorials will hopefully shorten that time for you.

This first tutorial is designed for those who have used Poser before but have never used magnets.

Most morphs can be accomplished using just four sets of parameters on the magnets.

  • Zone Size (scale)
  • Zone Position (x, y, z Tran)
  • Magnet Size (scale)
  • Magnet Position (x, y, z Tran)

For this tutorial load the sphere from the Props menu.

Go to the Object menu and select Create Magnet

Change your view to the left and center and enlarge the prop until you have something like Figure 1.

Figure 2

Next select the magnet zone. and move it to the right (positive Z direction).  Zone should look like Figure 2.

NOTE:  It is important to remember that the part of the figure enclosed by the zone is the only part that is affected by the magnet.

Figure 3

Next move the magnet (red object) to the right.  Notice how the polygons in the object stretch to the right with the magnet.

Figure 4

Now put the magnet back to the middle.

Select the magnet zone and set the Scale to 3%.
